Indus Resource Centre (IRC) is an NGO that empowers the marginalized communities in rural Sindh (https://irc-pakistan.org).IRC envisions a society in which all citizens, irrespective of their gender, class, religion or sect can learn, work and participate in local and national affairs. Its mission is to empower the marginalized communities and support the process of their poverty alleviation through direct interventions and advocacy.

Currently, IRC is seeking an ambitious, versatile, and proactive individual for the position of “District Coordinator”. Under the supervision of “Project Manager”, “District Coordinator” will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

– Collaborate, motivate and support the local community members in establishing and operating the NFE centers.

-Adhere to and fulfil all the legal requirements for operating NFE centers in the district with collaboration with Sindh Education and Literacy Department and District Officers

-Ensure the safety and security of NFE students, NFE Facilitators and field staff at all times

-Assist in identifying and hiring potential NFE Facilitators for each NFE center

-Help in registration of beneficiaries, in coordination with the Project Manager

-Monitor, report and improve the progress of each NFE center as per the provided KPIs.

-Organize and mobilize communities to ensure their active participation in community sessions

-Design community sessions keeping in view the demography, cultural sensitivity and literacy level of indirect beneficiaries

-Ensure equitable and fair distribution of project material for beneficiaries

-Entertain any complains and suggestions by the beneficiaries or community members

-Data collection and survey in project areas as per requirement

-Prepare field reports of activities and visits to NFE centers

-Regularly communicate with the Project Manager to ensure timely completion of project KPIs

-Plan and execute project activities as per the budget by adhering to the procurement policies of IRC

-Safely store all project documentation, especially with financial implication

-Any other task assigned by supervisor

Qualifications and Skills:

-Masters/Bachelors in Social Sciences, Economics, Psychology or equivalent

-2-3 years of relevant work experience

-Prior knowledge of working with NFE centers or Adult Literacy Programs will be preferred

-Prior knowledge or experience of UNICEF education projects will be preferred

-Ability to work independently with self-directed effort

-Strong interpersonal skills

-Excellent written and oral communication skills

-Fluency in English, Urdu and Sindhi

-Willingness to travel within Pakistan

Salary: The maximum non-negotiable salary for the District Coordinator position is PKR 50,000 per month (all-inclusive)

Currently, IRC is seeking an ambitious, versatile, and proactive individual for the position of “Academic coordinator” for project School Adoption and management of Ghotki Engro Schools under the supervision of Project Coordinator. She/he will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

Academic Support:

 – Prepare and monitor the yearly syllabus breakup

 – Conduct materials development exercise with teachers for active learning and teaching

 – Facilitate head teachers and teachers in all academic areas

Monitoring and Supervision:

 – Conduct random classroom observation, facilitate teachers  school-wise 

 – Prepare and guide head teachers and teachers for students assessment such as;

 – Collection of papers, proof reading, quality control, matching with syllabus, marks distribution and clear instruction

 – Maintain random checking of copies, lesson plans, classroom observations and teacher’s diaries etc.

Planning and Development:

 – Form and implement the yearly syllabus

 – Form and implement the academic calendar

 – Develop annual/monthly schedule or work plan for all schools

 – Plan and Conduct meeting with school council / SMC for teachers, students / parents and academic concerns.

Reporting: Complete and collect all IRC reporting formats for IRC schools (QPR, School’s Profile, half yearly/annual reports as per need)

Key Specific Job Responsibilities:

 – Extend full Support in syllabus updating before the commence of new session starts.

 – Observe at least 60 school assemblies in a year, the per month range will be from 4 to 8.

 – Observe classroom teaching and students learning on a prescribed format at least 26 in a quarter from 6 to 12 in a month. Provide relevant, constructive and developmental feedback.

 – Help out head teacher in developing and implementing teacher and class wise time table and it is displayed on central points.

 – Review continuously /periodically on syllabus coverage, monitor and give feedback immediately.

 – Aware and mobilize communities for enrollment enhancement and retention through different vehicles of Enrollment Enhancement and Management.

 – Pay surprise visit particularly on classroom observation and student’s learning progress at least 8 in a month.

 – Provide support to AM in implementation of training plan, get nomination from the school and ensure the participation from each adopted schools.

 – Visit and monitor that the trained teachers are implementing the learning, do continuous follow up and provide guidance and report to AM.

 – Provide need based support in achieving the KPI targets timely and accordingly particularly on meeting students’ attendance, classroom and assembly observation, community engagement and CPD.

 – Write reports timely as per the agreement/requirement and document the process accordingly.

 – Facilitate in organization of SMC Meeting and PTM as per KPI targets.

 – Assist school management in administration of monthly test and examination.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education: (Formal degree): Bachelors /Master degree   from a recognized college/university.

Special Qualification: (Certification, diploma etc): B.Ed

Experience (Relevant): Two year field experience at school level.

Skills (Essential and Desirable):

 – Good oral and written communication skills in English & Urdu

 – Good interpersonal skills and an ability to deal with principals, teachers and communities

 – Ability to organize and prioritize tasks

 – Team player

 – Good analytical skills

 – Good command on MS office; in particular Excel

Salary: The maximum non-negotiable salary for the School Officer position is PKR 30,000/- per month (all-inclusive)
