Indus Resource Centre (IRC) is an NGO that empowers the marginalized communities in rural Sindh (https://irc-pakistan.org).IRC envisions a society in which all citizens, irrespective of their gender, class, religion or sect can learn, work and participate in local and national affairs. Its mission is to empower the marginalized communities and support the process of their poverty alleviation through direct interventions and advocacy.

Currently IRC is seeking an ambitious, versatile, and proactive individual for the position of “Project Manager” under the project: “Moblizing Girls to work with Schools to create girl-friendly Learning Environment” sponsored by Malala Fund. The project seeks to address the issues related to the:  1) Continuity of learning of girl children, which has been affected the COVID-19 pandemic; and 2) Retention and enrollment of girls through addressing the gender disparities in education system.  The project aims to promote girls education in underprivileged areas through sustaining continuity of learning and safe learning environment. The position is based in Jamshoro with frequent travel to project sites. The minimum duties of the position shall be as following;  

-Develop monthly, quarterly and annual work-plan; and to guide project staff to perform project activities and meet targets according to project work-plan in both districts.

-Establish, maintain and strengthen project coordination structures; implement project M&E framework, Standard Operating Procedures, Terms of Reference, position descriptions, networking and package assessment criteria.

-Ensure monthly progress reporting, project evaluations and support measures related to end-year study, interim evaluation and third party field monitoring.

-Ensure timely implementation of project targets and compliance of the project agreement.

-Plan and organise quarterly progress review meetings, training workshops, refresher courses, enrolment rallies, walks and media campaign according to project work-plan and consultation of senior management.

-Prepare activities for effective supportive and oversight role of Village Education Committee (VEC) with schools leading to improve access and quality.

-Represent on behalf of organization and project in relevant seminars, media programmes and forums and raise support for joint advocacy on girls’ education.

-Document case studies, reports and material to enhance learning and sharing systems at project level. Create innovative ways including social media services for project learning and sharing, with consultation of organisation’s Programme support unit (PSU).

-Ensure adherence to all the legal requirements for working with government partner schools in the district with collaboration with Sindh Education and Literacy Department and District Officers

-Design community dialogue and broad-based community meetings by keeping in view the demography, cultural sensitivity and literacy level of indirect beneficiaries.

-Perform any other task assigned by supervisor

Qualifications and Skills;

-Masters in Social Sciences, Economics, Psychology or equivalent

-3 to 5 years of extensive experience in project management tools and resource management

-Leadership skills to lead and manage large education team

-Prior knowledge or experience of girls education/ gender projects will be preferred

-Self-motivated and Ability to work independently under work pressures.

-Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with personnel at all levels.

-Excellent written and oral communication skills (will be tested)

-Fluency in English, Urdu and Sindhi

-Willingness to travel within Pakistan

Salary: The maximum non-negotiable salary for the Project Manager position is PKR 80,000 per month (all-inclusive)

The position is based in Karachi with frequent travel to project sites. The minimum duties of the position shall be as following;  

-To consult with supervisor and develop monitoring framework of the project in-line to approved M&E framework of the project. Prepare necessary monitoring and data collection tools of project.

-To conduct regular field monitoring visits to project communities to review and support the process and report the findings to the management for rectification. Hold debrief sessions with field team in-line with monitoring framework.

-Organize and support surveys, data collection, data compiling, verification, validation, classification, completeness, correctness and consistency; hold follow up on any data quality issues.

-Prepare field monitoring and monthly/ quarterly progress reports of the project activities based on process measurement and factual data analysis; and focus to capture the intangible results for reporting.

-Design M&E tools and templates in collaboration with the supervisor. Data entry of students and manage database of project activities.

-Conduct project process evaluations to ensure all processes are executed timely and effectively

-Consult with relevant stakeholders in order to improve the delivery of project indicators

-Data collection, data entry and data management of surveys and project activities in project areas as per requirement. Backup project data safely in an external portable HDD or cloud service (Google Drive)

-Prepare field reports of activities and visits to schools. Prepare quarterly reports to reflect performance and progress project activities.

-Any other task assigned by supervisor

Qualifications and Skills

– Masters in Social Sciences (Development Studies, Social work, Sociology or related field) from    recognized institution with 03 year work experience.

-03+ years of relevant work experience

-Prior working experience in M&E of education advocacy projects will be strongly preferred

-Excellent command of Microsoft Excel, Access and Word

-Ability to work independently with self-directed effort

-Strong interpersonal skills

-Excellent written and oral communication skills (will be tested)

-Fluency in English, Urdu and Sindhi

-Willingness to travel within Pakistan

Salary: The maximum non-negotiable salary for the Project Manager position is PKR 50,000 per month (all-inclusive)

The position is based in Karachi with frequent travel to project sites. The minimum duties of the position shall be as following;  

-To develop in-depth understanding of project of COVID-19 impact and girl-friendly learning environment in schools through guidance from project supervisors, available project material and capacity building events in order effective implementation of project activities

-To organize and mobilize communities in villages and around targeted project partner schools through active participation of girls and women for collective action within project framework.

-Develop community support groups for continuity of girls attendance in schools to coordinate for provision of public services to children.

-Mobilise and organise girl students to establish girls clubs in schools and orient them on their roles and responsibilities.

-Organise awareness raising activities on importance of girls’ education and girl-friendly schools environment through multiple gatherings such as: broad-base community meeting, rallies and local level campaigns.

-Hold meetings, interactive theatres, awareness sessions, surveys, data-collection, FGDs and report case studies to project supervisor.

-Facilitate community institutions including girls clubs to develop work-plans and guide them to implement their plans. Disseminate project information, IEC material to raise awareness on children rights in targeted communities.

-Encourage communities, children clubs and general public to report child abuse and exploitation cases. Maintain strong linkages with communities through trust-building and mutual respect.

-Prepare daily diaries / note to files (NTFs) on regular basis and seek feedback and guidance from supervisor.

-Any other task assigned by supervisor.

Qualification;

– Masters / Graduation with at least 2 – 5 year relevant experience.

Salary: The maximum non-negotiable salary for the Project Manager position is PKR 35,000 per month (all-inclusive)

IRC is seeking an ambitious, versatile, and proactive individual for the position of “Social Organizer”. Under the supervision of “District Coordinator”, “Social Organizer” will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

-Identify and select the best possible sites for establishing NFE centers

-Collaborate, motivate and support the local community members in establishing and operating the NFE centers

-Assist in identifying and hiring potential Learning Facilitators (LFs) for each NFE center

-Help in registration of beneficiaries, in coordination with IRC’s Management

-Monitor, report and improve the progress of each NFE center as per the provided KPIs.

-Organize and mobilize communities to ensure their active participation in community sessions

-Design community sessions keeping in view the demography, cultural sensitivity and literacy level of indirect beneficiaries

-Ensure equitable and fair distribution of project material for beneficiaries

-Entertain any complains and suggestions by the beneficiaries or community members

-Data collection and survey in project areas as per requirement

-Prepare field reports of activities and visits to NFE centers

-Any other task assigned by supervisor

Qualifications and Skills

-Masters/Bachelors in Social Sciences, Economics, Psychology or equivalent

-2-3 years of relevant work experience

-Prior knowledge of working with NFE centers or Adult Literacy Programs will be preferred

-Ability to work independently with self-directed effort

-Strong interpersonal skills

-Excellent written and oral communication skills

-Fluency in English, Urdu and Sindhi

-Willingness to travel within Pakistan
