Currently, IRC needs your help for the construction of one of our IRC-Sojhro schools in Tando Masti Khan, a village in Tehsil Gambat of District Khairpur (about 470 Kilometers North of Karachi). This Elementary school was established in 2009 and now has 361 students (149 girls and 212 boys), with 12 teachers and 2 non-teaching staff. It is housed in a small rented residential structure which is now insufficient and inadequate to provide a good learning environment as the consistent increase in enrolment has made the space congested.
Considering the potential of growth of this school, there is no other option but to have a simple, bright and airy purposeful building. IRC already has a one-acre plot in this village in the name of Indus Resource Centre, purchased a few years ago. Recently, IRC has started construction on of this building. The design has 13 rooms and 8 ‘ wide verandah in front of them (9 class-rooms of 21*16, one computer lab-cum-library, and one science room with 2 small offices). More details can be found at our website (www.irc-pakistan.org).
We need your help in moving ahead. The construction like our other schools will be simple — red bricks with plaster on one side and pointing on the exterior, traditional tiled roof on steel girders, plaster on the floor etc.
We would appreciate donations of any amount and contributions in-kind as well. For instance, you can donate solar panels, batteries for solar panels, solar fans, school furniture, etc. If any philanthropist pays for the construction of one room and verandah, then his/her contribution will be acknowledged through a plaque in the class.
